IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO COMPLETE THE SURVEY!

Dear Wawaloam Family,

The Rhode Island Department of Education is currently administering its yearly SurveyWorks Parent Survey, which is an opportunity for parents to provide feedback about our school and our children’s opportunities to learn.  The survey results are most useful when all parents participate, so I am writing to ask you to participate in this survey. This is the first year they have asked for feedback from Kindergarten and Grade 1 families.

Your views on matters like the safety of your child at school, the way students are taught, the condition of the school, and how connected you feel to this school are important. By taking this short survey you can help us to make improvements to our school. Responses are anonymous and cannot be linked to any individual; no one can tie your responses back to you.

You can take the short survey online between February 4 and February 22. To take the survey visit:    http://surveys.panoramaed.com/ride

Our School Code is: 97101family
.
Thank you,
Melissa Marino
Principal

*If you send us a quick email telling us that you participated in the survey, or send this paper form back with your name and the word DONE on it, we will enter you in a special family raffle prize!

Mother Goose Presentation

ISLAND MOVING COMPANY
MOTHER GOOSE

Today, Wawaloam was mesmerized by the stunning performance of Mother Goose by the Island Moving Company. The students (and all of the adults) were so impressed by this whimsical presentation of classical music, dance and nursery rhymes!  Keep those Box Tops coming, these are the amazing opportunities we can provide for your children thanks to all of your support!

Kindness Recycled and Recess Rocks

In a world where you can be anything..... BEE KIND!

This week, we were SO lucky! Andrea Munroe came and shared a very special (fast-growing) movement called Kindness Recycled. For more information, you can check out the website: KINDNESS RECYCLED

What we love about this project is the magic we can create when we follow the 5:1 ratio for spreading acts of kindness.

The project is described as having the following components: a social movement from the heart,
a message amplifier and an opportunity to improve our environment.

We are planning to share this important message and project with as many classes as possible! Mrs. Corcoran was the first to take this on and all first graders had a chance to hear about this project on Thursday morning.

Thank you, Zachary, for joining us to help!

Great work!

A great example of some of the words we chose.

Thanks for helping Miss Julie!

Everyone is working so hard!

A close up of Cole's bracelet.

Great focus!

Yes, you do!

The kind acts flow out into the hallway! Look at all of the sweet messages.

RECESS REALLY DOES ROCK!

Be on the lookout for order forms VERY SOON for our RECESS T-SHIRTS! We will take orders first and then reveal the artwork that was selected! It was a very tough choice!

We were fortunate enough to continue with Recess Rocks professional development training at Wawaloam School yesterday, there were 16 participants! 7 Metcalf staff members were welcomed to join the fun and games to introduce the Recess Rocks program that helps ensure that recess is a safe, meaningful and healthy experience for every child.  Group management and conflict resolution tools were presented, as well as how recess, play, and physical activity can positively impact school climate and student success.

Looks like we have a winner!

It was great to be able to share our successful Wawaloam Recess Rocks experience with Metcalf School! Check out all of the fun that was had!
