Week ending 3/29 Wawaloam News

Monday, April 2 is World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD) aims to put a spotlight on the hurdles that people with autism – and others living with autism – face every day. At Wawaloam School we will #lightitupblue for the month
of April.

Great job earning an EXTRA RECESS Mrs. Evans and Mrs. Corcoran's classes!!!

We are making it a point to have practice drills in various situations/locations. Today, we held a fire drill and teachers were asked to use alternative exits as part of an important exercise in following directions.

Kindergarten students were ALL in the cafeteria when we had our drill and we were able to let them know that anytime you hear that alarm you get up quickly and move to the nearest exit. We reiterated the most important job of a student is to listen and follow directions so that will always know what to do.

We also stressed that the adults are here to make sure you are safe and will give you directions on what you need to do. The children may come home and talk about this experience today.
A reminder that we are asking students to bring 3 rocks to school for our READING ROCKS week celebration- we will send home the reading week schedule as a reminder for you NEXT WEEK~

*If you are planning to order a READING WEEK T-SHIRT we MUST have your order by Monday. You can email claudette_murley@ewg.k12.ri.us if you are planning to send in your order as we will submit this to the company making the shirts on Monday, April 2.

Next TUESDAY 4/3 is PICTURE DAY for those of you who are interested. They will only take pictures of those students who return a picture envelope for Spring Pictures.

There is a PTA meeting next Wednesday at 6:00 PM.

The  Texas Roadhouse PTA fundraiser is NEXT THURSDAY night! Hope to see many of you there!

A reminder that there is no school tomorrow in recognition of Good Friday.
