……and the countdown begins, 10 More days of this school
year! Some of our Grade 2 friends are
off to the RISD museum today, the weather is perfect for their adventure.
Next week we will be having a special visit from the local
Exeter and West Greenwich librarians. We will be working together to share our plans for recognizing student
reading efforts this summer. We have come up with new ideas to encourage trips to the library! We are fortunate to have made some great community
connections for this summer! I will tell you all about it next week!
I had the joy of attending the final PTA meeting for this
year last night where we bid farewell to some friends who are moving on and
welcomed in the newly appointed board members.
It will be a pleasure to have Jenn Spira in the role of
President, Tom Cale as our Vice President, Maeyee Barrette as our Treasurer,
and Jeanne McCaffery and Kelly Fichter will stay on as our Corresponding
Secretary and Recording Secretary respectively.
This week, during our Grade 1 and Grade 2 meeting we
discussed WORLD OCEANS DAY which is officially on June 8. There are great
resources out there. Here is the website that I used to share the information
with the students: http://worldoceansday.org/
I connected this to the fact that we live in
the Ocean State and we shared stories about all of the treasures we have
collected from the sea. Some students were exited to learn about my sea glass
collection!
How exciting it is to see all of the Grade 2 Animal Projects
coming in!! They are awesome! Do you know I actually received an edible EAGLE today!
Who knew you could make such a thing! Yum!!
Have a super weekend!
Melissa
